    H/C Package - Thoughts?

    Ok...

Patriot CNC Stage 2 Ported Heads
    GM MLS Head Gaskets
    Felpro Head Bolts
Choice of any Comp Cam Grind (231/237 .589/.595 112LSA)
    Comp Chrome moly Pushrods
    GM Crank Bolt & Seal
    =
    LS6 64cc Heads & Cam Package 1769.99

    plus...
    PAC Beehive Springs - .600 Lift 149.99
SLP Heavy Duty Oil Pump 166.81
SLP Double Roller Timing Set 159.99
    GM LS6 Intake Manifold 469.99

With self install and tune total would be under 3.5k. Did I miss anything? Know of something somewhere I should get instead? That cam will sound MEAN out the true duals. I'm probably about a month from pressing the order button, but I'm anticipating damnit!

EDIT: Hahaha, time posted. This is what I do when I can't sleep...

just double check your P/V clearance w/that cam (call both Patrtiot and TSP for confirmation)...

i have the same cam, just not installed yet w/Patriot Stage II Ls6 "Style" 59cc heads, the old 6.0L truck casting heads. the chambers on mine are welded up but your heads are probably the new batch that may have been milled down...

skip the Ls6 intake and go FAST 90/90. im telling you this from personal experience. i gained 35rwhp/10rwtq from swapping from the Ls6 intake I had to the FAST 90/90 and a re-tune...

Ehhh, the 90/90 alone is over 1k. I reckon I should save that for when I stroke it since I am currently on a bit of a budget. Besides... I need to put a little money back for that 12 bolt I'm sure I'll have to order one day.

btw, get springs rated to a .650 lift, you'll thank us later for doing so...

if passing on the 90/90 then pass no the Ls6 and save the money. i was disappointed with the Ls6 and my H/C (comp 224 .581 @112) and only putting down 409/386. i found a used FAST 90/90 ported and then ported more of it myself, slapped it on and then retuned it and we to 444/395...well worth the price. i picked up the combo for $1k ported. was on the guys car but never on the road. he wanted to go the forced induction route and thats why he posted it for sale...

Im thinking about doing close to the same setup as Tonix. There is a head and cam package with rockers on Redline Performance Engineering's site for $1895. It seems like a sweet deal! What about the Holley Aluminum LS1 intake manifold? That thing is over $400 cheaper than the FAST LSX. Im just not sure if it fits 90mm throttle bodies. Or if the Hp improvements are as good as the FAST LSX.

you wont see the gains from the Holly that you will from the FAST 90/90. heat soak is an issue with a metal based intake. trust me when i say its better to save up for the FAST than get something not be happy w/it and then end up with the FAST down the road. im telling you guys this from personal experience.

Oh yeah, now that you mention it ive heard someone else saying the metal manifolds transfer a lot of heat that rob HP. Yeah i guess it would be better to save up for the FAST LSX. I just wish it wasnt so damn expensive! Haha
