gouges on every other pushrod on 5.3

wondering if any one knows this problem the aluminum standoffs under the rockers seem to have the lettering upside down wondering if this is the problem these gouges are 1/8"deep and in one spot and not all the way around ,always seemed it had a ticking noise

Are the gouges where the pushrods go down through the small hole in the head? Are you running aftermarket rockers and cam?
The standof should only beable to go on the "right way"

Auto zone or advanced auto has new stock ones for around $2 each, I'd try replacing afew of them and cranking it over a few times, then check the new ones to see if they are scratched up.

Was it ever over reved to where it could have floated the valves and bent the pushrods?

found problem the intake bolts were too long and were in the way of pushrods

Glad you found the problem! For the price I'd replace the scraped pushrods for piece of mind
