    got a question..should use search..but this one is different

    Alright..so ive decided to go with Patriot heads (since they are the friendlyest for my budget)..

    now..should I get

    LS6 Style Heads

    or

    5.3/LS1 Heads


    I am not running F/I..this is going to be an N/A setup. Ill be on a stock short block and am looking for around 440 RWHP when its all said and done.


    what about lift and CFM? I know that all depends on the cam...does anybody have any opinions on what would be a descent setup for me?

    orrrr..does anyone have any ideas/experiences on decently priced head and cam packages that can maybe get me near the goal im looking for?

    LS6 all the way, way better flow and doesnt screw your compression like the 5.3 does. I have the stage three's and i will never look back at the 5.3's again.

    what kind of power increase did you see from the LS6 heads? are they from patriot?

    I also went with a bigger cam but my increase was 35 rwhp with the Patriots and then when I built my other engine that is a 408 i went with the patriot heads stage 3 for the lq9 heads and that was 50 rwhp gain so i have always had good luck with Patriot Heads

    soo. for me at a gross 440 RWHP goal...which heads could you recommend with what CFM and lift? Stage II right?

    what are you setting at now rwhp? what cam are you running or thinking about running? heads we talked about Patriot Stage 2's, and intake?

    right now all I have is a Lid (w/ free mod), ported TB, street tune...

    im not looking something too lopey..maybe somewhere around 112 LSA

    Texas Speed Pefromance, have my favorite camshafts, but just with camshaft and heads and headers on my orginal stock ls1 I went from 336.8 rwhp to a gain of 135.6 rwhp putting me at 471rwhp. So, to awnser your question I went TSP Magic stick 4 camshaft, Patriot Stage 2 Heads, and QTP Longtube Headers and I easily obtained your goal Rwhp goal.

    on your heads..did you go with 205cc or 250cc intake runners? what about lift? when you say stage 2 you mean the LS6 ported heads right? or 5.3 heads?

    They dont make a 250 cc they make 2.05, 2.08, 2.25 My stage 2 are the 2.08 with the 225 runner. and they are the LS6 Ported heads. I wouldn't even consider 5.3 heads. runners and valve diamter are diffent.

    but aren't those stage III heads that you have meant for bigger engines? Like 383, 402, 408?
    At least that's what I was reading.. and that stage II or 2.5 or good for the ls1's?
