You will need, 1) new cam 2)New matching Valve springs 3)Hardened pushrods and 4) a good Dyno tune to get the most out of the install. You might want to change your Oil pump to a ported and Shimmed LS6 pump and Put in a LS2 timeing set (timeing chain and gears) These 2 are optional but highly recomended. If you dont allready have Long tube Headers, Aftermarket exhaust and a Lid, you will also need those so you do not starve the Cam for air, and choke it trying to get it all out. Also some new rear end gears would really compliment the cam as well.

For a very nice streetable Daily driver cam, I would recomend a Texas Speed 228R with a 112 LSA. Great powerband and good lopey idle. Do not be fooled into buying the biggest badest cam out there because you will not use it to its full potential unless you are at the dragstrip on a constant basis.

If you have an Auto, A nice size stall convertor would really inhance the cam and lower your ET's at the track as well.

    listen to this guy!

get an ss3600 or ss4000. don't go small and regret it...you are definitely gonna want headers. i'd personally do that first. if you want to go small on the stall then at least get an ss3600. i believe right now yank has a 3 year warranty on them too..don't quote me on that

I really like the cam that is in my car now the VRx3 from Vengeance. It puts down right at 400 RWHP with just exhaust and a lid supporting it, and it is very drivable (think I have put 2000 miles on her in the last month or so).

are ss3600 and ss4000 stalls? if so wouldnt that be fairly high for a car that only does 380-420 hp. can it still be managable to drive on a daily basis, or will it be kick ass?

yes they are. the yank ss 3600 is daily driven by many people. i already bought one, haven't installed it yet. mine is a weekend warrior so it doesn't matter to me. the guy i bought mine from was getting the ss 4000 and he put down 420rwhp. I only put down about 330-340rwhp..but I plan on adding a cam very soon as well. I hope to be 400rwhp after the cam

Great advice from the guys above. Check out the Trick Flow cam in my signature. That too would fit well within your criteria....has good street manners, produces a ton of mid-range power and has a nice (noticeably) lopey idle.

Good cam. I would say $250 is fair. They are around $379 new. Make sure you get your valve springs changed and get new pushrods with this cam. With supporting mods in a Auto you will see at least 400 HP, and be a good daily driver.

If your going to do that, Just go with a texas Speed 228 R with a 112 LSA http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=167&catid=44

    And get this Package http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=175&catid=49

You can't go wrong with that cam and Texas speed uses Comp Cams for their grinds.

what is a lsa? and what does the lobe seperation do to the car, and how it performs. does the bigger to lobe sepperation make it lope longer and further between? and are those the numbers like 580/580?

The bigger the LSA the smoother the idle will be. The lower the LSA the choppier it will be. When you start going lower in LSA, it will sound better but harder to tune. Also the torque curve will rise slightly.

228 is the duration #'s and the 580/580 is the lift #'s.

which one would be cooler to have 110,111, or the 112? If going to a the others besides the 112 makes it hard to drive or uncomfortable i dont want it, but if its going to be the same would having a lower one sound cooler and give it a nicer lope? But will it hurt the vehicles performance, i dont want that at all.

112 is about as low as you want to go with a street car. That is what I have in mine right now. Has a great lope to it, and is very manageable on the street. A bit of a beast sometimes with cold starts, but nothing that is to bad.

he's right about the rough cold start on a 112, but once it is warmed up, it sounds really nice.
