Hell, you can run 12.5s with just a few bolt ons.

It's good bang for buck the cam. Not as hard on the valve train as the high ramp rate cams that everyone wants to put in and will perform nearly as well at the track.

its a o.k cam but compared to all the other cams out there, its sucks.

throw in a thunder racing 224 cam with 551 lift, it will make more power and be easy on the valvetrain.

Isn't the hot cam kinda small?

A cam install is kind of in-depth, so I think you should pick something that will last your power urges for a while. Something in the mid 220 range.

Your friend wasn't upgrading to another cam, was he. Most people who buy the Hotcam later buy a bigger cam. If all you want is a choppy sounding idle, that will work nicely. If you want to make big power, that cam is a stepping stone.

It's not so much the lift as it's the fast ramp rates that beat up the valve train. I ran mid 11s on a hot cam and TEA S2 heads.

Granted a hotcam doesn't run with the dyno queens, but it will hold it's own on the track.
