I guess California smog laws are disregarded in this case? Because it would be hard to get those numbers without nitrous or forced induction in a smog legal vehicle. Just my 2 cents. I'm right at around 465rwhp after spending a little over $10K+

This is where cubic inch displacement comes into play!

Why the 500? Is that some magic number.....I've killed cars putting down over 700 RWHP...walked their ass....so the magic HP number doesnt translate into a quicker car......400+ to the wheels is one bad bitch.....I run right at 600RWHP and my GTO is very streetable and tame....but it took $$$$$$ to get it there.............408 CID Iron Block

    Thanks Sarge.

I was about to say....peak numbers are nothing but bragging rights.

There are plenty of smaller cammed cars making 390-400 RWHP that can outrun the larger cammed cars down the 1/4 mile strip.

    4.10's going in it soon

So my goal is to reach 500 RWHP i plan on doing heads within the next six months but with my cam and a set of heads i only be at about 450 rwhp. Whats the best route for me to get to 500? Go with a different cam and and an excellent flowing set of heads? I really don't want this to get to pricey. If i did it all over again i would have went with a turbo but you live and you learn. My car is my DD so i still want it to be streetable.
Well I know myself and a few others ragged on you about the "number"....but to answer your question.....heads and an electric water pump will probably get you there....

I know its not a magic number just wanted to know how to achieve it with a stock cubed ls1 that was N/A. I'll probably just buy some heads and do my suspenion and some other things and call it good where ever i end up at.

Sarge (or anyone else with specific experience),

How do you like the FLT Stage 5? I'm running boost right now and will ultimately forge the motor with some heads/cam when it's time to freshen everything up. Any regrets or complaints, or are you happy with the product at your power levels? I'll probably be around 650rwhp when all is said and done, but with boost it's 'peakier' than an N/A 408ci setup, so I imagine your motor demands even more durability. Just wondering since I'm starting to do my research and that setup was recommended to me.

I am probably going to run a Yank 3600 stall as well.

    Thanks!
    Nick

YES he did but thats on a 10 bolt rear and thats a lot of work on the Afr heads as well. and a fast 90 is not going to flow the best... the 102mm intake is better in more then one way. im hoping to hit 470+ on mine and thats going to take a every thing to work. im running a 9 inch rear so thats going to hurt a lot

Plus your going to need ALL the bolt ons on a 346 to hit 500rwhp.... Not alot of people have done it. Which means its not easy to hit 500
