getting a cam need some advice

Hey guys and gals i am headed to iraq for a while when i return i will be buying a cam for my 99 Z28. The question is other than the cam is there anything else i need to get before i have it instald, ie push rods rockers,? any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks!

What size cam are you getting?

You will want to upgrade your valvesprings and pushrods for sure.

224 or 228 duration, 580s or 590s lift and 114 LSA range if its your daily car.

I have an awesome suggestion. When you return from Iraq you will be filling out a travel voucher which pays you a certain amount per day from while you were over there. It will come out to over 1000$ of free money. Use that plus an extra couple hundred bucks and by a set of patriot heads while you are at it. Cam only is ok but Heads and Cam is deadly.

eh well, i guess that travel voucher thing only works if you are in the army and will be there about a year, so if you arent disregard that part and buy heads anyways.

I'm in the air force and we have travel vouchers but i'm only going to be gone for a couple of months so my voucher isn't that much we get $3.50 a day plus my fly pay and hazared duty pay and seperation pay all of that togather is what i'll be using for the cam and the instalation. maybe some heads depends on voucher amount.

thats a good size, you will make about 30rwhp, i think patriot still has a kit with heads cam and all the accesorys for like 1800. which aint bad for the power you get
