    Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu----argh!!!!!

Well, I've developed a dreadful "ticking" noise under the hood. Turns out to be a "bad" lifter (whatever that means). Now I need a new cam and lifters.

I have stock exhaust manifolds and a built top end (4-angle valve job, ported, milled, sodium-thingy valves, etc, etc). Dyno was 361hp/363tq to the wheels with a 5.3L cam.

What recommendations for a cam? I honestly don't know if I'll ever get headers, fwiw.

I want a smooth running engine at any rpm, not a bunch of lope at idle and a nice broad, streetable power band. I also have an RPM level 5 trans (everything but the cryo). Diff is stock 10-bolt... I never launch from a dig or do clutch drops, though. All hard acceleration is from 10-ish mph or more.

A Texas Speed 228/232 .600/.600 cam then is what you're looking for.

    May require new springs though.

It will give you a nice bump in HP but still have street maners.

Also get a set of LS7 lifters. They are the stock replacement for all LS motors for wuite a few years now. IIRC they go for about $110 for the set of 16.

I've got LS7 lifters, hardend push rods, and springs are already upgraded. Turns out my cam was actually a Comp Cams grind that was used, but was a good match for my build. Now builder is is going to spec out a custom grind from Cam Motion.
