Found during oil change
I was just starting to do an oil change this afternoon, pulled the drain plug and this came out on the end of the drain plug. It looks to me like its a spring off of a valve seal, which would make sense because my car is burning a little oil and puffs blue smoke occasionally, nothing bad...but enough that I don't like it. I took a crappy picture, maybe it will help. Almost looks like a spaghetti noodle about an inch long but it is a spring.
anyone know is thats a valve seal spring? I'm pretty sure that I saw springs on them when I put them on If not...what could it be.

piece of paper clip????
wire????
if it as the snap ring off the valve seal, i can't see how it wouldn't be more mangled from travelling out from the spring.Cold Air Intake, Muffler Delete, Vinci High Performance Dual Valve Springs, Hardened Pushrods, Yella Terra 1.85 Rockers, Some Hydropdipped Stuff, Strut Tower Brace, Some SS Badges, boost/vacuum gauge, fuel pressure gauge, some checkered stripes, drilled/slotted rotors, ZL1addons Stealth wickerbill, Ruxifey LED side markers

looks the right diameter but alittle long to be a valve stem seal spring .
done any work with the valve springs?
thats not the only spring in the engine like it. crank seals offhand, but there a little larger diameter spring and you would deffinatly be dumping some oil from there.
sure its not a piston return spring??????????????? just a little humor
come to think of it i've seen some fancy aftermarket rings sets with oil wiper rings with springs like that also, lower end stock????

Looks sorta like a mangled version of the clip that went on the oil pump...the one that is there to hold the pick up tube....

I have no idea, but do you know if it was magnetic? It might help to narrow down where it came from if you can determine what it's made of.
My oil plug is magnetic, I guess the rest are too. I've never picked up anything even close to that, so it baffles me.
At first I thought it was a piece of the seal they use on some types of oil containers, but if it is stiff, obviously that ain't it.

I dont know what the hell I did with it..I showed it to my uncle and forgot where I put it. I put it together so it made a circle and it seemed about the right size to be from the valve stem seal... It was magnetic because it was stuck to the magnet at the end of the drain plug...came out when I pulled the plug, it was just sticking to it. Also a couple little metal shavings with it.
