Finally New Cam
I finally pick up my thunder racing 224/224 112 cam today and i lost the cam card. My question is how do i check to find out it is the correct cam, also do thunder racing cams always come in comp cams boxes. Thanks, all info is apreciated.

I have the same cam. I don't remember the box it came in but on the end of the cam it will have TR224 engraved on it. Why did you buy it used?

I picked up the cam from one of my buddies friends that was barely used not even for 1000 miles. He upgraded to a bigger cam so he let me have his for free. I just want to make sure its the right cam.

what are the rest of the specs for that TR-224? That info is important as well. I'm pretty much running the same cam but mine is a Comp Cams 224/224 .581/.581 112lsa.
I suggest calling TR and with the numbers on the end of the cam, run it by them and see if they can give you the specs over the phone or issue you another Cam Card...
don't forget you will need to upgrade your timing chain (ls2), ls6 oil pump, springs, retainers, spring bases, and pushrods2018 CTS-V: °°668rwhp/658rwtq°°

Yeah, with my TR224 I just got the LS6 ported oil pump, springs, and pushrods. The TR224 isn't a large cam...

I contacted Thunder Racing with the serial number and according to the serial number it is a 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA. I am planning on picking up Texas Speeds PRC spring and push rod kit. I will be swapping the cam hopefully next week. Thanks everybody for all the information,

I have one last question, Will Comp 918's handle my cams .563/.563, and will i be ok with 7.35 pushrods?

PRC's springs will be overkill with that cam.

Oh ok, I was just thinking the PRCs would be able to last longer than the comp 918s just because they are a double spring. Is it just too much spring for the cam

Lemme know how smog goes after the cam...wondering if you'll pass with the lope. You know how cali is with all the damn hippies.

You really can't over spring. The advantages of a double springs is that if you brake a spring the inner one will keep the valve from droping and making a mess inside your cylinder. However a double springs being that they are stiffer will require you to bring the engine up to temperature before you romp on it, or risk breaking a spring since they are more brittle. Also consider that if you get tired of your 224 cam and want to go bigger having the double springs already in place will make the process easier, so in the end it is up to you.

Advantage of the 918 is it's lighter and more efficient than the double and when combined with titanium retainers and the low lift of the .563 cam makes for a safe and pretty damn fast valve train.
