    a few questions

I have a 98 formula with 172000 miles on it. I am not having any issues but would like to build the engine for a little more hp. I dont really want to stroke it. I was thinking of doing the ls6 convert. Rings, seals, cam, gaskets, ls6 heads and intake. Is there any gain from using forged pistons in these engines if I do not plan on running nos? Who has the best ring sets? I have a 06 hemi ram as my daily driver so I just wanna take my time to make sure the formula is gonna last.

You will not need forged pistons if you do not plan on running any boost or nitrous. if you build up a nice little ls6 with a little bigger cam you will be real happy.
2000 SS Camaro Heads, Large cam, Fast 90, 9"w/430's and locker, yada yada yada... you get the picture

awesome. I have been reading the sticky on cams that is on the ls1tech site. I think I'll go with new rings, a ls6 cam and heads. I'm not looking to make killer power, I just want a little more. Thanks!

ok guys. I have been searching websites all evening. Wehre can I get stock size rings other than gm. Do I have to hone the cyl wall when replacing rings? If so do I still use the same stock size rings?

Yes your going to have to clean up and square "haha" away the cyl.
usually i think its .0050 over the stock rings and as far as i know lunati sells them so you might wanna cheack that out!

if its not your daily driver I'd tear it down first and get the cylinders checked with the mileage you have on it. that way if it needs more than a hone job you can get all the right sized parts the first time. you could try calling summit racing for the rings too. 1800-230-3030 good luck with the build man, I can't wait till I get some free money to open my motor up

    machine shop

i would def. send the block to the machine shop to be checked and freshened up. it would be bad if you do all that work and have to do it twice. just my .02.

    `98 Formula M6 HdTp

You can get an New LS6 Longblock for just over $3000.
Use your LS1's Oil Pan and accesories and it's practically a direct bolt-in. Swap out the cam put on an LS6 Intake and happy motoring
