Even more gains with Hotcammed 98 Camaro

Mods - LS6 intake, BBK 80mm t-body, 85mm GMAF, ASP underdrive, Whisper airlid, K&N filter, SLP 1.85 rockers, Borla catback, Flowtech longtubes and Y, Vinci tuner, GM Hotcam (the cam that supposedly doesn't make power and is a waste of money. Buy a 224 because it's cool and i READ on the internet it makes more power.....)

Sitting on 413hp, stock 98 heads......

I've never ran a 224. This post was a response to all those who said, "the hotcam is garbage, don't waste you money on a hotcam, and "the 224 is the mother of all cams."

Oh, I personally have no problems with the hotcam. Is it to small? Yes, for me it is but it fits for some people. You can't really make a post like this bashing on the 224 unless you dyno'd both cams. I notice you have 1.85 rockers which would put you really close to a 224 on the lift side anyhow with stock 1.7's and the duration numbers aren't way off either. Now add up how much you have in the cam and rockers and then look at what a 224 costs and you probably didn't save a whole bunch of money. Not bashing on you, 413 is awesome with the hotcam on stock heads. I'd love to see what you'd make with a bigger cam and some good heads. The combo you have now obviously works for you, just not right to bash a well proven cam because your one car dyno'd well.

Gotcha...thanks for the props. Not really bashing the 224, but there are some here who think the 224 is the ONLY cam worth buying. Not calling any names, but it shows if you build a car with the right parts you can get excellent results. I beat 224 cars by 3 car lenghts regularly...not saying it's because of the hotcam, i may have a "factory freak" car. Plus my idle is down right sick, sounds much more wicked than a 224. My torque was 417.

Well, KyleLs1 seems you are up on your game. I too find it hard to believe the hotcam put that much power out. The use of the 1.85 rockers and the tune is the major factor here.

whats the cost factor between the 2? I aggree it was a good bump to go with the 1.85's.

no one said it doesn't make power... poeple simply stated in your other troll thread that you had that a 224 is better...

you insisted that a hot cam makes more power than a 224 in your other thread... that is what the argument was...

now go back to your trolling...

You bet. I'll keep my eye out for a Red Z with a faint lope running low 13s.
