Engine Overhaul??
I've got a 1999 Trans Am and pushing 170 thousand miles...What would be the best thing to do to keep this bad boy from blowing up.. I was just thinking a engine rebuild kit if so.. whats the best and where??

If you want to keep it from blowing up it's really pretty simple: don't drive it.
Rebuilding the engine really isn't much of an option unless you're looking for a unique build. Buying a shortblock from a vendor that has all the work already done is by far the most time effective route, and many times costs the same as rebuilding yourself.

I bought a 98 TA with a spun bearing. I just took mine out and then to a machine shop, They checked everything from the heads down and ordered what I needed. I spent less than 1700 with a new crank, seals, gaskets, etc... Not a big build, relatively stock. Make sure that it is a good shop to do the work.
