Engine knock
I have an '02 with 13k miles and I seem to have this classic "lifter knock" coming from the engine. The noise is there when the engine is cold and warm. I noticed this article here http://www.rjsmith.com/gm-1206539.html#top and it says a problem about an oil pump o-ring being bad. I searched on here and only found a couple threads about this issue but no real answers. How many people have this from the factory? Changing it doesn't seem like a bad job but I want to make sure it's not really a bad lifter. But I can't seem how it can be. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by knock. I believe the o ring thing is supposed to cause a ticking sound.

Ticking, knocking...whatever. It's a sound like that. Is piston slap a myth on these engines?
