    Do I have LS1 or LS6 ?

    Hi,

I have bought LS1 to put into my buggy, but I am not sure if it's LS1 or LS6.

Donor VIN says it's '01 LS1, heads 241 are saying also LS1 but I have block with casting number 12561168 so LS6 ...

Searching this forum I have found combination LS1 bottom and LS6 heads but not opposite.

    Do I have LS1 or LS6 ? What is HP ?

    Thanks for help.

All the engines are ls1's the only difference is in the casting of the block it makes the same hp and torque as a normal ls1. The block offers better venting characteristics and thats about it. To make it a true ls1 ull need to swap the heads and cam.

You have LS6 block w/ LS1 parts ie: cam/heads/retainers/springs/rockers/pump however like you stated you got it from 01 model, you should have LS6 intake.

So its LS1 and its rated @ 350 hp.

Don't forget the 346ci, not the generic 350 round-off like everybody likes to state. When getting into a specific build-up with a machine shop, this is the first tip-off you're dealing with idiots when they spit out "thray-fifta?" Unfortuanately, this is from experience
