Cut out lifter tray with head on???

Has anyone ever heard of this. If you leave the heads on and cut the lifter tray to remove the lifters and reinstall with link bar lifters you wouldn't need the tray right?

Maybe on a SBC but never on a LSx base block. You don't access.

Who ever suggested that to you please stop listening to them.

Now if you do go with link bar lifters you are correct in that you do not need the trays.
