    cracked head

    ok so here is what i got. a buddy of mine cracked a head while driving the other day. the motor over heated and he towed it home. now should he just buy a new motor or just get heads and flush the motor. any info would help.

    Depends on how bad he cooked it. I'd at least pull the cracked head and check stuff out before investing in a whole new motor.

    that is what i am sayin to him. we towed it to a shop and they gave him a whole story of why he should buy one of their motors and let them do all the work.

    Shop is trying to rip him off. However, if he gets the head off, rips it apart, and finds bits and pieces of piston rings or something than perhaps a new engine is in order.
