    Angry cracked block (pics)

Car ran great all yesterday even though it was raining. Then had to jump start the wifes car later that night in the rain.... still running fine. Drove it around the block and shut it off with no problems. Then when I went to start it in the morning it sounded like shit was falling right out the bottom of the motor . So far I know I have PTV contact....the loud poping noises coming from the motor after trying to start kinda gave that away. Also jacked up the car and found oil leaking from the block. There is no way I could have hydrolocked the motor... so who the hell knows. The sad part is I bought this car at 39k and I only have around 44k on the car now. Heres the pics.

I wish I had the time and the money to do that. Im just going to take it to the pontiac dealer have them replace the whole damn deal and let insurance take it. I dont get what I want, but Im not riding my classic harley to and from work in the winter. Maybe I can strike a deal w/ the pontiac guys and get the old engine off of them.... then I could rebuild the heads and have some spare parts or sell a couple pieces to make a little money back.

    2001 formula

That sounds exactly what happened to the 2001 formula with the 5.7 engine that I just bought. That previous owner got into the car one evening and started it up and all hell broke loose. He sold the car to me and I found a crack in the right side of the block close to the dip stick tube pulled the engine and found a broken rod that tore up the block. Had to buy an engine to replace old one. Not a real hard job to drop the whole thing out of the bottom of the car to change engine. Good luck I am courious of what you find.

Well I guess I do get to build the motor the way I want it because insurance isnt going to cover it. The only way they will is if they can proove that water is the reason why the motor blew up.... fat chance of that. If after they rip the car apart and they find it to be a mechanical failure all the "diagnostic" labor and towing fees are on me. So in light of a 500 dollar bill coming my way Im just gonna say the hell with it and do it the way I want. Anyone use speedinc's 348 sportsman block?? I think thats what im about to get.
