Can't really bore an LS1. Just a hone.

$2500 or so for parts. The 383 is made from stroke, not bore.
Watch the wrist pins though. I have heard they get tight with another part (piston skirt I think).

The 383 is still just a stroker crank and will run you around 2300-2500 for the whole assembly. If you don't know much about engines, I definitely wouldn't do it yourself.

for what it will end up costing you you are better off to get a 396 or large short block...

I had a 383 stroker kit installed. I'm happy with it's performance but to make a long story short I've been saving for something in the 400 c.i. range. I wish I didn't spend that much money(3g's+) on the kit and the install only because I could use that money now for something even faster. But I will always want more. Just my opinion on my motor.

I had a local machine shop do my machining work and I purchased the kit through them to install myself. parts and machine work together was around 2500$ total. I think with all the Nic nacs and stuff It was around 3k to have the engine running again. Thats with Stock cam and heads, But the heads had new Valve seals and valves put in. Stock manifold. ETC. Just a Eagle Crank, Rods, with Keith black pistons and a Felpro gasket set.

Also make sur eyou have the oil pan cleared too. Or it will make a knock sound.

From my machine shop experience, the Lt1 heads you can port and get almost the same flow as an Aftermarket head. So I would say yes.

I think it can handle .060 over. Possibly more, But I don't think I would anymore.

Bored is how big your pistons are and Stroked is How long your Rods are or How big of a Stroke your Crank will turn.

Im assuming your talking about this post?

Basically what he is saying is they get the number 383 Cubic inches of Displacement from the Crank stroke not the Bore of the Cylinder.
