Comp LSR Cam - Any experience? Any oppinions?

I sent off a quick email to comp cams asking for a suggestion on cam, for my application.

They reply I got back was this "
I would use our part number 54-458-11 in this setup. This cam uses our newLSL lobes and will have a very broad power band. It should work very wellfor what you are looking to do with this car."
    Here is a link. http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/Ca...csid=1402&sb=0

The cam is actually somewhat similar in spec to what I had in my head, just from my own research on this site and elsewhere, but I haven't heard anything about these new cams before, and I'm unfamiliar with this new lobe and now aggressive or abusive it is on the rest of the motor.

Someone with some info or experience who would be willing to share would be great...I'm curious if this cam is fowl tempered to DD or particually hard to tune for, in addition to what this style of lobe is like.

    Here is my set up:
2002 LS1 F-body, with full exhuast, upgraded intake, and soon to have 215cc Trick flow heads...as well as an upgraded yank converter (2800 or 3200 stall) I mentioned I wanted something I could DD and autocross with in the 2000-4000rpm power band and also have good results drag racing (basically a do-it-all car, that specializes in none of the 3)

Take a look at the XFI lobes on pg#14 CompCam Master lobe pdf.
they have more lift then the XER lobes, but have less agressive ramp rates.

I am running the step down from the cam you posted.

    223/231 610/617 112lsa

I really wish i could give you some hard evidence on how well the cammed performed but all i have is seat of the pants dyno numbers. My cam has gobs of mid range power and keeps pulling hard up into the higher RPMS. Doesn't have much of a lop to it so its not as noticeable I would recommend this cam to anyone

It doesn't seem these new cams are too popular around here, not many people care to comment on them.

If anyone is interested I did write back to Crane and ask for a bit more detail, including what kind of maintenace schedule they would advise for checking and/or changing valve springs while using this cam. I'll post thier reply when it comes in.

Thanks for the input and vid Dewman, can I ask how long you have been running the cam in your car?
