    cheap build advice

    I'm new here snd I need advice I jus t bought a 99 ss from my friend a nd it has dropped s valve/lifter I got about 2 grand I can put into it. I'm gonna go through with all new bearings snd rings etc any suggestions on wat cam intake etc is best or best bang for my buck

    Im in athens its gonna b a daily driver mostly weekens though. But I dont want it to be jo slouch either though

    02 35th LE Camaro SS

    Get a medium size camshaft and an LS6 intake. Add a full exhaust and you are through your budget just about. Adds up quick. You likely won't have enough left over for aftermarket heads. Look at the Torquer V2, TSP 228, or similar. You can get a custom grind camshaft too. If you're an auto, you really should match the cam to a larger stall. Lots of weak links on these cars that should be upgraded before you touch the motor.

    Aleeady has full exhaust with vette tips just needs headers I mught save a few dollars more and get ls6 heads if its wirth it

    Is the texas speed cam kit wirth it or get the comp custom grind

    a good cam with springs, chromoly pushrods will go for $650-700 combo

    A set of used 243 heads can be picked up for $400-500


    I'd also recommend upgrading the oil pump as well - Melling 10295 would be a great one.


    A decent daily driver cam for LS1 would be a 228 cam

    Are the 243s worth forkin out the extra cash and getting them worked? I'm wanting to stay cheap and simple but I wanna push some decent power

    Cheap, reliable, fast. Pick two.

    The 243 heads ported and polished are a nice budget head for the performance, but they are by no means cheap to get worked properly.
