auto or stick car? $2k will have to be spent very wisely to beat cobras. You could always just spray it for half that money and beat them and take the other half and buy sticky tires and things like that. It depends on if you're auto or stick though. Sticky tires, headers, and a stall would get you pretty close.

a small cam only setup with some gears and DR's will spank stock terminators & stock shelbys.

some stock LS6 heads with a FMS F14 cam (high lift) frequently gets 430rwhp. if you stepped up to the trick flow heads with that cam you could reach up to 460rwhp, but those heads alone would eat up most of your budget.

but then the car will sound like a monster with a big cam right? i want it to sound near stock, and i have checked out the Trickflows they are perty expenisvie and they i would need new pushrods and rockers right? i saw a SLP head and cam for 3k and supposebly will give you 600HP i found that pretty hard to belive.

If you want 150 HP without nitrous, Expect to spend a whole lot more than $2k. You will need to upgrade your suspension (rearend) to handle all the extra power.

    Cobras are 390HP Yes?
I ask that because the first step in spending your money wisely and getting the most out of your upgrade is to set your goal and then put a balanced combination together to meet it.

no point in putting that amount of money in the engine without the drivetrain to put said power to the ground. a set of 4.10 gears would make a world of difference...

also being an M6, a 9" is better suited for 6spd cars over a 12-bolt...

That head and cam package is designed around a 402ci engine, which you most certainly do not have.

You need to figure out what the hell you want to do. It sounds like you're on a budget, so decide whether or not you want a turbo setup or not. Anything you do to run well NA is most likely going to hurt you down the road. So either hold on to the money for the turbo, or build the engine now. Doing either half assed while contemplating a different route is a compromise, and you're car will run like it.

The only way you're going to run down supercharged Cobras while sounding stock and on a budget is nitrous.

As the others stated, the simple way to accomplish this is a 125 hp shot of N20. You should be able to get the full kit, with all of the safety features and install for around $1K and change. Slap in a set of 3.90s or 4.10s in the rear and you're getting closer to your $2k budget, however you still have a car that sounds stock and should run by a STOCK Terminator. As for the boatload of Cobras out there throwing 550+ hp to the ground, it will take a lot more to compete with them.

Looks like i wont be doing anything to it right now as i am now un employed however as a truck driver there are many jobs out there so if i try hard i might end up with a bigger budget by the end of the year. I will be bolting on some performance air boxes and getting some gears. probably 3.90 and will most likely try looking at some nitrous and i would defenetly would want to go turbo later on.

Why is a 9" better for 6spd cars?

Yeah buy ull need full bolt ons to make use of that kit. I bet with a good catback and LT's, you could make more power than that kit with half the price of it to.

To beat a stock cobra, you will need most of if not all the bolt ons. Lid, p/p tb, intake, lt's and a catback. That should eat up a nice chunk of that $ and with the remaining you could get a nice tune. When ur all done you will have about 350 to the wheels give or take and ur average cobra makes just as much if not more in stock trim. By the way, what are the ods ur gonna come across a STOCK cobra? 90% of them have AT LEAST and exhaust and pulley which will put them right near or over 400hp. Only SAFE way ur gonna make that power is with a big cam or h/c.
