Cammed Auto??
I have an 02 Z28 A4. I'm looking to get a cam installed in my ride. A couple of buddies say that I would have to get a stall converter before I get a cam. Is this true or can I run a cam with my stock stall?? thanks, Mike

It depends on the cam. Most large cams do require a 3500 or bigger converter. Even with a small cam say a .224/.228 I would still get a 3500 converter. The stall really wakes the auto up. It gets you in the rpm band rapidly. With the stock stall you will slowly come up to that band.

Red- 2000 Camaro SS
Not only that, but it will have a tendency to pull through the brakes with a big cam and stock stall.

I know a lot of people who run circle d and I plan to get one for my car. They stand behind there product and haven't heard anything bad about them. There prices are pretty good as well as a lot of options

i have a yank ss3600 it is one of the most popular converters for the ls1. if car is your daily driver might want to go with a 3200. would be best to drive a 3600 if possible. it takes more rpm to get the car moving but puts you right into the powerband when you want to go fast. also subframe connectors would be a great mod if you do a cam and stall. i could not believe how much better the car drives with them its night and day how stiff the car is with the subframes. they are 2 point weld ins. if you do a stall you also need to do a big tranny cooler the stall generates alot of heat.

Nothing wrong with Yank, Circle D, or Precision Industries Vigilante Series. Remember, you get what you pay for. The manufacturers that I listed are the best and stand behind their products. I have had a Vigilante without any problems and purchased a new Circle D this year and have been pleased with both.

you dont NEED a stall with a cam, i have been running a stocker on my 223/232 .610/.617 112LSA lsr cam for 2 years now while it isnt the most enjoyable thing to drive you can get away with it. With the stock stall my car is a turd down low until i hit the power band and it takes off.

dewman you need a stall. then instead of waiting for the power to come on at 3k the stall will put you there right away. if you have the cash get a stall and get ready to love your car that much more.
