    Talking Cam swap DONE!!!

Well, here's some pics of my cam swap in my 2000 Z28. It took all day Saturday to finish, but wow, it sounds amazing. The car runs surprisingly well for a stock tune. Stays running all on her own, lol. The cam is a Torquer V2 232/234 .595"/.598" 112 LSA and of course springs and hardened pushrods.

Ok, here's the video of the first start up, remember, its a stock tune. I'm surprised it stayed running, lol. Its got long tubes, ory and LM1, so its REALLY loud

I would like to thank Sean at Top Gear Motorsports in Mesa, Az for his help...well, I helped him, lol.

Thank you. Its an m6. The manners are actually not bad. Being that its a stock tune still.

Just put that cam in about a month ago with other mods down in sig. Haven't gotten to drive it yet due to no exhaust at the moment but this Friday is the due date. I have a Frost Tune but glad to hear that the manners are not that bad on stock tune. Gives me hope on mine

Great pics of your work. I really like the shot down the cam bore with the rollers on the lifters just hanging there. Thank you for sharing.

Yea, a frost tune should be fine, but I recommend getting a dyno tune anyways. But you'll love the cam

Yea, I hope to have both dyno and track numbers soon. I'll be sure to update this thread when I do. It will probably be a couple of weeks. Its a bit more complicated than a first gen small block. You could do this in your drive way, but it will probably take longer than a day. You see, I had access to a lift and air tools. Made things a hell of a lot easier. But if you have never done it before, I recommend having someone maybe try to help you, thats what I did. But its really not that bad. Just do a lot of research on it and make sure you use the lifter tool to hold them in place, lol. Some people say you have to drop the engine to do this, but as you can see, I just took mine through the front

That helps, how long did it take you? Did you use a spring tool?

    Any tips for me?

It took a whole saturday. To be exact, about 9am-6pm...ish. Yes, used a spring tool, but it was some thing to do with an air line in the spark plug hole and some bracket that wrenches down on the springs, dont know what its called. See in this pic?

Hum, tips? Use a lifter tool, so you lifters dont fall into your engine when you pull the cam out. Take you time, have everything you'll need for the swap, make a list. Oil/filter/coolent/all you gaskets/AC freon/etc...and maybe someone who knows what they are doing, lol. It was easier for me because I had access to a lift, power tools, open shop pretty much. When you go to put your timing cover back on, tighten the lower ones first, then the top, or else you'll crack your oil pan. Think about everything thats coming off (spark plugs/wires/coil packs/under dive pulley/blah blah) best to replace stuff while its off. Good luck if you try a cam swap, do your research and dont be in a rush to start it up, do a final check over to make sure everything is where its supposed to be/hooked up
