Cam Swap
I have an '04 GTO LS1 in my sand rail with a 4spd sequential transaxle, exhaust has a small muffler at the end of each header. I was looking at the Comp cams XR275HR or XR281HR cam. Has anyone used these cams or something similar? What can I expect as far as idle or any problems possibly found.

With something that light, I'd look at a 228 with around .600" lift...what for tranny and ears are you running? If you don't have one yet, I'd look for a Porche 914 tranny and go with a bigger cam (closer to a high 23x) and an Edelbrock pro flow intake...you will have a higher rough idle, but lower bottem end torque (less stress on the tranny) and more top end horsepower with the ability to spin well over 7,000rpm.
Just my opinion, hope this helps!

The car is already built, have pic on profile... unable to attach one here for some reason. It weighs approx 2500lbs, 35" tires, Mendeola S4 tranny rated @600hp, not sure of the gears... went with lower gears due to stock engine!
I was looking at the 275 or 281, that is what comp cam tech support suggested with a stock LS1. I'll do the cam, lifters, push rods and spring kit. I want an aggressive sound and or idle without having the problems of hard starting or losing vaccum. If that gives a better picture of what I'm working with and trying to achieve!
