I THINK Harris Speed Works does a cam install for 525 and cam and valve train swap for like 800ish. Either way it doesnt help you because u are in CA. A good shop should charge about $1200-1500 for a cam swap and dyno tune. I really wouldnt pay anything more than that. Hell if u were closer by I would have done it for you for a fraction of the cost.

research it and do it yourself. its not bad at all once you start reading and understanding whats down there. At the least you could a pay a shop to do the spring swap(before you put the cam in)

your going to get a big range of prices. There price is going to vary depending on the perceived skill level and technique. If your paying someone who is really crafty with the wrench's, expect to pay for it. Many may want to drop the engine = labor time. can you wait and get the springs, lifters and all the cool stuff at one time? You might get a break in labor cost. In my opinion, Its worth it to do some research and get the job done right.

Your gonna spend around 1000-1200 to get your cam, springs, pushrods, an oil pump, gaskets, bolts or studs, and other misc stuff, plus 4-500ish for tune, and then labor (probably 500-800 or more). It's a little much but is it a well known late model gm shop, cause you may be paying for high quality craftsmenship?
It's pretty easy to do by yourself if you have a few tools and basic know how...

I changed my cam last weekend - a pretty easy job if your mechanically inclined. My Diablo Predator won't let me tune all the parameters, so I'll have to pay for that probably.
