Doing a cam before long tubes is kinda senseless. A cam needs to breath and will not do so well threw the stock pipes. You will be lucky to gain half of the advertised h.p of the cam on a stock exhaust.

Since you are getting heads from Texas Speed, I'd let them spec a camshaft that will work for you.

I don't care for any of those straight pattern cams unless the cylinder heads have an excellent exhaust port, and a good exhaust system to boot.

Torquer V2... and it will like those heads when you get them. You do realize you have to get springs for your current heads to run the cam, right?

Ported oil pump and underdrive pulley too, seeing how they're both coming off anyways.

Like I said in your other post

I would go with a comp cam 226/230 or 228/232 XER lobes. Also depending on how many miles your engine has I would replace the lifters, valve seals, springs, pushrods, oil pump, and have your factory heads milled .010.

Also if you want people to know you have a cam I would go with a 111 or 112 LSA ,but if you could care less or want a stock sounding cam go with a 114 LSA.

I may not have alot of posts, but have owned LS1 camaro's since 1999.Also I have a 2000 Z28 M6 with a comp cam 228/232 XER lobes and 243 heads that have been ported with 2.055 intake valves. My car had 115,000 miles on it when I took it apart and everything needed to be replaced that I list above for you.

I dont see many pple using Lunati, I was looking at the 222 230 LSA 114. Seems like its the middle of the road. not too aggressive and not too radical.

We discussed it a while back, someone was going to try one in an LS1 motor. I run the Muther Thumper in a 406 carbed motor I built. I find it easily drivable, but I'm old school and tollerate alot.
I don't think it would be for most people on the board here though. They also grind the cams for the fuelie motors a little more tame than the carbed motors, so what I have is a bit more radical.
I'm sure a savy tuner can make it work well enough, and dyno comparisons between there more popular XE grinds showed the thumper cams really didn't give up much HP on top, and made excellent mid range power.

The mutha thumper I used was the middle grind which has an operating range of 2200-6100. There is a larger version called the big mutha thumper with a range of 2500-6400.

Comp Cams also has a dyno graph on their website showing how it performs in a 350. These cams have an extremely flat torque curve thanks to the tight 107 lsa. I can vouch for that, in my 406 which is a torque monster anyway, it has a ton of grunt right off idle making it an absolute ball to drive. I'm now running 3.08 gears in it, still a handfull to drive.

Ya, I was looking at their F5 cam on a 114 (224/228) for mine. Looks very much like the 224/228 cam straight out of Comps catalog, but their is no mention of the lobe profile on Futrals site. Something is a tad different though because the lift is a reverse split for Futral and the other way around on Comps site. Prices are about the same.

I know this might sound like BS ,but that F13 along with my LS6 Heads ,3.73 gear, SS4000 yank ,and stock SLP Dual/Dual cat-back ,my car is quiet as hell and drives just as good when I had the TSP 224 cam and 3200vig with stock 3.23's .

Don't be afraid of a 230/232 cam. I'm sure you know that it's all in the tune.
