    cam on stock ls1??

Well I have a stock ls1 cant afford the head swap now but I do have LTs, ORY, and corsa exhaust and slp intake. I do have other mods but no hp adders, what i want to know is will it be ok to put a new cam in w/o doin a head swap with it? Also what size cam can i go with stock heads? The search is not working for me right now so this is why im posting. Any help would be much appreciated, and also this is not a dd car and is an m6.

237/242 .603/.609 112, 113, or 114 LSA. it fits with stock heads on several cars, but always check to be safe.

Whats a good site to go to purchase this cam? Ive been searching and nothing but videos come up for me . PM me with some links if not a sponsor please and thanks for your help so far that cam sounds sick from what ive listened to and looks more like a dyno queen. Also is this cam good for spray around 150 shot or so?

with the Ms3 or any cam even close to that large you need to upgrade your valvetrain. New springs, valve locks at least, and new pushrods would help also. Your gonna have to throw in probally an extra 500 to 600 for the valvetrain upgrades.

Hmm that's a pretty good price for the parts. Does that include new valve locks??

    you gotta be kidding.......right
    that cam is designed for a full-boogie, race-only, large-displacement, high-compression, all-out drag-car..
I'm sure what you meant to say is....the TSP 228R is perfect for your mostly street-driven car and will respond nicely to aftermarket heads and exhaust mods, choose the 112 degree LSA for the "lope" your seeking.

Yes I'm dead-set against any cam with over 230 degrees duration @.050" valve lift that has to live on the street, don't get me wrong here, that is the pefect cam for the drag-strip where the engine never runs below 3000rpm..

    Just my $.02

You live in a BIG state that has literally thousands of LS1s running those types of cams on docile daily drivers. Hopefully you'll run into one of those one day and be welcomed to the New School.

I see in another one of your posts that someone asked for LS1 head recommendations, and you posted "for 350ci - 180cc" You sir, need to wake up

Well said!!! The tr228r with a 112 lsa would be perfect for a daily driver with plenty of power and great power curve, and nice lope. I am going more aggressive but, mine is not a daily driver.

Yes to let everyone know this car is not daily driven and I live in a fairly good sized city. I already have comp cam chromolly pushrods cuz the previous owner bent 7 out of 16 rods and shattered 2nd gear from a miss shift. So i have a few upgrades already but not to valve train specifically which I am aware will need to be upgraded. I just want to know how well that big of a cam will perform with and without N2O as i will be running it. Also if I had to worry about ptv clearence? And anyone who runs this cam and has personal experience with it your opinion is much welcome along with everyone else.

    the OP quoted

TR228R is the largest cam that you should use with the stock heads...

tell ya what, if you'll do a little research on duration, static compression and how they relate to cylinder pressure then you'll have a better understanding why i don't design street motors with more than 230 degrees duration @.050" lift.

FYI: the TR228 is capable of producing over 480hp at the back wheels in a 346cid engine with 11.2:1CR, AFR 205cc heads with 62cc chambers, LS6 MAF, LSX intake, 90mm throttle body and 36 lb/hr injectors, just goes to show ya that it doesn't take a lot, just the right combination to make big power....
