cam question
need some help guys to go on the right direction..
some guy i meet few days ago has some parts for lsx, so hes selling me a ms4 cam he dont need no more, its new in the box,
$200 for it, i dont know much cam cost usually but i think its a good price,
my question is, i want a cam for mine but for my understanding that is one BIG cam, i had planned a 224/228 or something little bit bigger that than what i wanted, what can i expect from that cam?
suporting mods would be
LTs
high flow cats
ls6 intake
ls6 ported oil pump
ls6 ported heads
ls2 timing chain
valve springs
block note sure if ls1 or 6.0
i heard that some times big is not always good.. so what you guys think?
my goal is around 450 if i can get more will be better..
im in cali remember that. i dont care aout the emissions but i dont want something to loud to call attention on cops

MS4 is too big for street driving, imo. @24/228 is too small. Something in the mid 230s would be perfect for a LS1.
Also, your exhaust determines the loudness of your car, not your cam.

People do DD drive that cam but it is going to be a killer on your valve springs with the lift it has. If you want something like the ms4 I would go with the ms3 for a healthier lift. Also any cam can be a DD cam, it all comes down to the tune also the LSA effects it too. I personally think between 112-114 is perfect for a DD cam. I would also add ls7 lifters to your list of supporting mods.

If you go with the ls1 then yes I would stay away from the ms4 in a DD however lots of people DD that cam in a 6.0 because the extra cubes help soak up the bigger cam specs in the end it's up to you tho
