    cam question

hey guys, I know i'm ALWAYS asking about Cam's but I can never get what I want and I hate waiting around for responses from TSP. I emailed them and asked them a good cam for me, My daily driver and they said a Torquer V3 but damn that idle sounds rough when I look it up on youtube. Is this just because they aren't tuned or because of the LSA?

Im not sure on the exact specs of that cam, but a lopey/rough idle is because of the LSA. If it sounds like its going to die then comes back...that could be the tune. My TA is my DD and it has a 235/239 109LSA cam in it. Absolutely no problems with it. Lower duration with a higher LSA (114) will get you more midrange power and a lot of ppl think thats better for a DD....but i beg to differ

What else do you have with your cam and how much hp increase did you find it gave you?

The die and than come back to life was the sound I was hearing, with a good custom tune will it idle normal?

I went from 310rwhp to 390rwhp with cam and bolt-ons w/ the old 98 heads on a hot day so we had to cut the tuning short....and i'm in Colorado at elevation. A big cam will have a choppy idle no matter what. And please someone correct me if I'm wrong but the RPMs will fluctuate a little bit, but it should not constantly sound like its about to die. It may do that when its cold but if it always does that than i would think you need a tune.

What parts do you have on your car to get 420rwhp and 390fpt?

I have LS6 Heads/LS6 cam/SLP LS6 Intake, Pacesetter headers, corsa exhaust, SLP Lid,

I hope with swapping the Toquer V3 cam (231/234 .643/.598 at 111 LSA) I will have over 400RWHP

well when the guy tuned it he tuned it to daily drive in traffic and stuff but he said it was capable of 440rwhp and 405rwtq. im hopin to soon buy a diff fuel pump and injecters to make 450rwhp

but ive got all the free mods, vette open filter no lid or anything, throttlebody, stock ls6 intake, stock MAF, msd wires, NGK plugs, stock ported heads, comp cam( dont know the specs lost the cam card in the move down here) but its choppy but not outrageous. stock internals, kooks lts and y pipe, and an slp resonater. i deff want more but im proud of what i got

Yeah I would be to if you are pushing 420RWHP with practically nothing lol I wish you knew the specs on your cam!

If you daily drive and don't want alot of lope I'd go with a 228/228 cam on a 114'lsa.

I bet your cam is a high 23x/23x or maybe a 23x/24x. mines a 235/239 and it starts pulling at about 3k all they way up. A 228/228 cam will pull in the mid range rpms...rpms that you are more likely to hit during street driving, not at the track

now that I have my little 220/224 cam all tuned in I wish I would have gone with a 228 or low 23x
but the 112lsa does make even my small cam sound like a beast
