Im buying a cam as we speak, Im trying to get all the necessary parts as well, Heres what I have got so far.

    LS6 Ported Oil Pump
    Comp Cam 7.4" pushrods
    PRC Gold Valve Spring Kit

the patriot golds are over kill

save about 75 bucks and opt for Comp 918's which are rated to .600 lift (actually under rated & are good to .625 lift)
better quality spring too IMO.... even though ill be running patriot golds LOL... after 15k ill be swapping in 918's (similar lift cam)

Its already ordered... I don't mind overkill. Can't wait to get everything put in. I also ordered the ASP crank pulley and a new bolt for it since I'll have the old one off anyway.

they'll prob matrix price it to like 9 bucks... but for its function still well worth the dealership rapage (since msrp is only like 3.50 or 4 bucks LOL)

try and see if a local has one in stock so you dont have to wait for it

keep us updated on the swap

    ls1howto.com
    walks you through it nicely

remember the fishing line to tie around the 10mm bolt for the pick up tube so you can fish the bolt out of the oil pan & not have to drop the pan

Make sure you know what the preload on the lifters should be for that cam. It has everything to do with how long your pushrods should be. What type of head gasket, and are you using the stock thickness. This also can have an effect on pushrod length. The only way to know for sure is to buy the compcams pushrod checker. Part #7702-1 $20.94 plus 2day shipping of $9.41 = $30.35. Because of it, I found out I needed 7.350. Well worth the money.

You better stay away from 918s they have been breaking lately. Go over to LS1TECh.com and do a search on 918s in the internal engine section. You'll be glad you did and anytime you can run a double spring go for it,it is not overkill and when people pull off their valve covers and 1 spring is broke and its mate is the only thing keeping the valve going thru the piston.
