    Cam power band?

I've been reading through all the "which cam is the best threads", and came to the conclusion that I want this 228/228 cam for my daily driver. I don't know a lot about them, but just going by what the majority of people said.

    Two questions...

#1) Do I want the 112 LSA or the 114 LSA?

#2) It says the power band is from 1600-6300 RPM. Does putting in a cam raise your max RPM? My redline is at 6000 RPM.

? # 1. 112 lsa will be nice and choppy and 114 lsa will sound more like stock.

    not sure about your # 2 ?.

*I got the 112 because I like the sound of it over 114.

112 lsa will have a choppier idle and not be quite as driver friendly.

You have to get it tuned anyway so your tuner will adjust the rev limiter to match the powerband. Just wouldn't spin past 6500 on stock rodbolts. some do and get away with it though. You can always have some advance ground into it to bring the power in sooner. 112 + 4 etc..

I am looking at this cam too and a torqer v2 (a little bigger) for DD.

Make sure you do your supporting mods with the cam as well, such as valve springs, locks, and pushrods.

Anyone of the speed shops will sell you a kit that has all you need in regards to a cam swap Cam Springs pushrods etc.... You should also look into an LS2 timing chain and a LS6 Oilpump for peace of mind.
Most people will reccomend a 114 LSA for Automatics but seeing as yours is an M6 you can get away with the 112 LSA.

oh ok thanks, i'll just have to ask them what i will need when it comes time.. might be a while still... want to do heads/cams at the same time but still gotta work on the bolt ons first, but as far as the LSA, is the only difference between the 112 and 114 the sound at idle?

M-Ten you may want to read through this guide to help you gain a better understanding on Cams and how different duration/lift/Lobe separation affect different areas of the powerband. I don't know the level of your knowledge so don't take it personally if you already know some of this stuff.
