    Cam install questions

    hi, how much should i expect to get a cam installed in my 02 trans am??

    Not including parts expect $100-$150 an hour and it takes about 6-8hours.
    bare minimum in parts valve spring kit, pushrods.

    Going rate around here is $700. When you factor in the cam kit and tune you are close to $2K.

    man if you do the work yourself, and buy Hptuners program you'd still save money

    that makes me feel better about all the time I spend in the garage. I've always done my own work, I had no clue shops charge that much money.......i need to open a shop lol

    i will tell you the motor being father forward in the GTO compared to the F-body made all the difference

    The pulley can be a PIA too whether it is getting it on or off.....

    YES!!!!!! The pulley WILL be VERY difficult to uninstall. Especially if you do it by yourself..(better have a breaker bar handy and some pipe tubing to put over it)..BUT I agree 100% with Mr. mild white rice......DO IT YOURSELF!!! Use LS1howto...be patient and surprise yourself!!! OH........& save between $700-$2,000.......BUT make sure you have a vehicle for everyday traveling as this will probably take longer than you think.......

    That is a great price if it includes spring install. I would assume you measure and shim too...

    The pulley and spring swap are the biggest PIA in a cam install IMO...
