How does a cam with those short durations and high LSA have 57* overlap? The web site that came from can't be right.

maybe because you are looking at the wrong numbers to determine overlap. try using the advertised durations.

i missed the stock converter part. hitting 11s on a stock converter won't be easy NA. now, a power adder, like nitrous, will make it much easier. so, let's try this one. again, 11s won't be easy on a stock converter.

    DUR @ .004" 272*/280*
    DUR @ .050" 210*/218*
    LIFT .551/.551
    OVERLAP 48*
    LSA 116*

    "ULTRA TORQUE"
    POWER RANGE 1500 TO 6000
    PROVIDES VERY HIGH TORQUE GAINS
    GREAT FUEL ECONOMY & POWER
    NO TUNING REQUIRED
    LIGHT THUMPY IDLE

this one with the 1.8 accelerated lift rockers like i have produced 50 rwhp on a 2004 GTO. this on a stock converter and stock exhaust manifolds.

i used this cam, except on a 112 LSA, and went 12.30s in the wife's car. and that was with a 3200 converter and 3.73 gears.

    In short.... heres some general's

Lobe center line is the max lift of a cam lobe . Centerline of the # one intake cam lobe is commonly used as a reference point for degreeing.

Duration is the length of tim e that a valve is opened.... measured in crankshaft rotation. USUALLY measured from .050 " off base circle. Since there is little airflow at very low lift it is measured there.

Base circle is the round portion of the cam, lobe where lift is zero.

Overlap is period of time when intake and exhaust valves are opened simutanesly(sp?) . This occurs near the end of the exhaust stroke and beginning of intake stroke.

Lift is the distance a valve moves off the seat.

Lobe seperation angle.. or LSA.. is measured in camshaft rotation between the point of max lift on intake lobe and point of max lift on companion exhaust lobe.

dual pattern.. a camshaft with diff profiles for intake and exhaust lobes..

Single pattern has the identical profile on both I& E.

there you go Shady.... the basics.

There may be some mistakes.... anyone who catches them feel free to correct me.

personally, i'd stay with the 2nd cam i suggested. the third suggests a converter.

So you can have huge duration at .006, without having high duration at .050? I thought they correspond, respectively to each other. That's why more duration = more overlap, if LSA remains the same on 2 compared cams. Am I way off on that?

If you are running 12.6 now and plan on increasing the boost, why not just get a 3200-3600 TC and not even worry about the cam swap, more boost and a stall and I would think you would be in high 11's even mid 11's.

they correspond. vinci/crane cams are measured at .004", not .006" like most others.

vinci/crane use the advertised duration to show overlap. most people use the .050" number to figure out overlap.

get a stall with a tighter str of around 2.2 1 or so and it feels like stock.

as for a good for a turbo, there are other outfits outside of vinci that do have them. ls1speed.com is one of them.
    they use a 225/225.
