    Cam and heads

Ok, i don't wanna break the bank on the heads so im thinking of just picking up ls6 heads and getting them ported and what not, maybe even upgrading the rocker arms and valve springs. what Cam would be best with these heads and how much HP to the wheels can i expect with a good tune. supporting mods are Pacesetter LT's, x pipe with flowmaster, FAST 90mm intake and TB.

    thanks

I ported and polished the hell out my stock 241 heads. I picked up my cam off of ebay $110 + $17 shipping. hr284 grind (copy) 284/292 = 220/224 @.50 .570/.580 lift 112lsa.
    you have choice 112,114,116lsa.
It takes some tuning, but love it.
can't tell you my gains yet(i hope to get on a dyno soon)....but it drives near stock with lots more power.
valve springs are a must for any cam upgrade.
with the fast intake and tb you should show more gains than me

sorry i havent been able to get on the PC....as of right now im gonna port the stock heads not sure on the cam, i watched some videos on youtube and im growing fond of the MS4...so we'll see what happens. the problem is i cant have my car under the knife for too long, its my dd so im gonna search for heads that have already been ported or buy another set of ls1 heads and port those. obviously then sell the old heads.

if you port your own heads watchout for this spot where the coolant passage dips around the exhaust valve spring seat

Yeah, get ready to replace your dual valve springs every 8k miles. If your wanting just all out power without much regard to driveabiliy, you'll like the Trex better than the MS4. From experience, stick to lower lift and longer duration.

Look at the for sale section on here and LS1tech. Their is always someone selling used ported heads on there for around 7-800.

the thing is i might be picking up a jeep or something for the winter months which ultimately means my t/a will be a summer car so im still battling on the cam situation although im content with a 400+ horsepower street car, not looking to turn it into a 10 second car. although that would be badass
