    Building a vortec 350

I bought this which was pulled from a 99 tahoe. Does not have heads or intake, plan is to run this engine in my 75 camaro, i want as little wiring as possible. I bought a forged crank, tomorrow I'm buying a set of ls1 heads. I'm looking to get about 450-500 horse at the crank on a somewhat budget build. What would be the best rout for this build? I also want to go carburatted

msd has a kit people seem to like.
What are you doing with a forged crank and stock ls-1 head combo? I'd bore that iron block out to at least a 346 like the ls-1, if you do get bigger valves you'll want to avoid shrouding on that smaller bore block.

    You're confused.

In 1999, the Tahoe came with a 350 small block. This is NOT an LSx based engine, so the LS1 heads you bought will not work. The LSx engines didn't appear until 2000, and even then they never offered a 350, 346, etc.

You need to recheck what you've got. It's either a traditional 350 SBC, in which case you would be better off asking for advice elsewhere (although some of us do know the SBC well). Or you've got a 4.8/5.3 LSx based engine, and it isn't from a 99.

So, what do you have again?

Agreed. I would sell those parts and pick up either a truck LSX motor, and or a complete SBC longblock set-up.

I have a 1999 Suburban LS, and its a Vortec 350. From several mechanics and speed shops in Florida, the 5.3 was not offered until after that model year (which was already discussed).

I think you got a 350 not a LS1 based engine. I used a stock 350 short lonk from a 99 chevy van with vortec heads, ran a decent street cam, edlebrock intake and carb in a 82 bird and ran high 12's at 107. Nice cheap street motor.
