big cam with high miles?

I know alot of people on here have put cams in higher mileage motors but most of the ones Ive seen have smaller cams.
I was already planning on a mild cam this winter but I just ran across a real good deal on a set of AFR heads so I was going to go with a bigger cam now.
I have 97k on my 98 A4... You guys think thats to many miles on the stock bottem end for something nasty like the magic stick 4?

since you have a 98 a I would do some research on rod bolts. It seems that he earlier models had problems with them when running a large cam such as an ms3/4 cam. I have a 98 with Tsp 5.3 heads and tr224/112 cam. About 3months ago I had Kateck rod bolts installed,just in case I put in a Ms type cam

I'd do some type of leakdown test or compression test to see how healthy the motor is.
