My dad is all about some Rotella T. I didn't realize it was a grade 4 synthetic! Wow, for as cheap as it is I am amazed at that. I guess everyone is getting hosed by Mobil. I'm going to have to do some digging on Rotella T before I buy another case of Royal Purple.

Mobil 1 is an okay oil....but not worth the 6 bucks a quart.
If your car is so 'worth' it, you should probably change over to Pennzoil Platinum 10-30 or GC 0-30.

Yup it's a grade 4! The only reason it's as cheap as it is is because it's advertised for heavy machinary like dump trucks, lifts, tractors etc that have high engine demands. If you ask me that means it can hold up to some extreme operating environments above and beyond that of a street car.

In some tests I've seen it crushed the Mobile 1.

I use PP, but I use 5w30. Why do you recommend 10w30? Just wondering

Very good question ! In the case of German Castrol ,the reason is

, they don't make it in 5w30 . Their "0W30" will handle all situations & in all weather extremes , most likely !

I will never touch Penzoil... I have pulled apart multiple engines that displayed built up sludge, the owner always used Penzoil..

I will never use Royal Purple, its a low grade oil and mostly gimmick.

So far, I have seen best results with Mobile 1 synthetic and Lucas Oils synthetic.

my ls1 has 111,xxx miles, hard earned miles. Its a high reving big cam engine that runs perfect and the valves are spotless!!!

Sending in an oil analysis is the only way to really know what the hell is going on in your crank case. Everything else is marketing gimicks. Check out Blackstone's site: http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ for more information.

A non-LSX site worth looking at in terms of oil: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/ A member named "Patman" is very knowledgeable on the subject of oil and LSX.

I've heard great things about German Castrol, Penzoil Platinum, Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobil 1 Extended Performance. To drop another turd in the punchbowl, let's not forget about quality oil filters!

    -Had to do it, Sarge.
Hell no man I dont care...Patman is good people and uses Pennzoil Platinum in his Vette as you already know...changed from GC 0-30 to PP

Good.....overpriced for results delivered.....but good oil nevertheless.
I mean why pay $6.00 per quart and get 12ppm of lead when you can pay $4.00 per quart and get 10ppm?

sarge has addressed this sludge issue before forget the exacts but i believe if you don't change your oil enough you get sludge too so, some random cars vs ur motor which you probably change religiously like most us do don't compare. I use royal purple not car has 135xxx very very hard earned miles the car is raced almost everytime shes taken out and I use to race her every sunday all night. Still kicking fine but i'm going to send out the oil for test with this oil change and then put pp in and send that out. but i'll listen to sarge with the test because like I said you can't tell about an oil off some random peoples engines you don't know how they were maintained. people that will spend $6 a quart don't miss and oil change so i'm sure they look better.

    Oil does not cause sludge.
