    All I can remember is that Texas speed and some other companys boycotted Dart heads because they were making the motor burn up to 2 quarts a day. I do believe that they were ported heads but I could be mistaken. I was told Darts dont flow good out of the box. It's been a long time so I could be wrong with this info but I know I would get AFR's or PRC's and thats about it.

    The only ones that used oil to my knowledge were those ported by TSP. They don't flow as well as say and AFR head, but you are buying in at a lower price so some compromise is to be expected.

    What's not to like? They flow like crap! Heads that cost hundreds less flow an honest 30-40cfm more. The Darts only flow around 275 peak intake and 205 peak exhaust out of the box. Sure porting the heads helps, but they the cost of porting puts them in the price range of far superior heads that still flow more. They were designed to be ported. They already have 225cc runners, and once ported, the runners are HUGE, and flow less than competitors with 20cc smaller ports and at the same price.

    They are ported by LPE, great price and LPE reputation, can't beat it.

    $990 each, wow that pretty expensive. Check out PRC's LS6 heads, which actually flow pretty much the same and are nearly half the price. If your gonna spend $2000 just on heads, they better be some AFR's IMO.

    These are the heads I will be buying very shortly.

    Texas speed also has Head/Cam combo's for less then just those LS6 heads your talking about.

    It says "ALL NEW PRC LS6 CNC Ported Heads" and "NEW GM Cores".

    No its for both heads. My buddy bought there head/cam package for under $2200 and is making 410 RWHP without headers, catback, lid, or Tune. So he should be making close to if not more than 450RWHP after all of that. The package included PRC dual Springs (best you can buy), Ported LS6 oil pump, GM Gaskets and Double Roller Timing Chain (adjustable). Do you think the extra $1000 justify's for lighter valves. It says it comes with factory valves (not sure which ones they are though). They come fully assembled and setup to your specs. It is everything you need for a Head/Cam swap for $2154.97. Try and beat that price with heads that flow over 300. I've been on the hunt for months doing tons of reasearch, these are the best budget heads to get IMO.

    well i gotta say "hi-dy-ho boys and girls" that is cheap. the lighter valves will help valve train stabitility and the sodium filled valves help control the heat generated from combustion, the flow at higher lift values aren't as import as the low to mid values, but the two are vertually identicle in those areas in all it cost me $800 more fore all the same parts ie.oil pump, cam, rods, ect. i bought my heads 4 years ago and at the time they were the best bang for the buck, give this a read if you haven't seen it before it is very informative. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showth...2&goto=newpost it is getting long at this point but a good read non the less good luck on your build

    Verify the valves with TSP. The newer 243 castings come with the LS2 solid valves. I would contact them and get an answer directly from them. The valves are very expensive.

    ^ Agreed. The stock heads have loads of potential, and can be worked over to flow with the best of them. My other '98 Trans Am employed AFR heads, and although I was very pleased with the results, I will never buy aftermarket heads again. The stock heads on my current '98 Trans Am will be entirely worked over....

    What about 11.97 at 117.59 while racing at 5800 feet???
    DA = 7100

    Or 531.1 RWHP all motor?

    Not the top of the line, but the Patriots are great budget heads. And their customer service is TOP NOTCH! Gunnar did more than he needed to for me.
    And the car runs hard.
