    The best heads

I have 243 heads with a 1st stage port. I want better flowing heads. Should I take them off and send them to a shop for a cnc port.
What heads does anybody here think are better?

    How much you wanna spend?
You can always buy better heads, aftermarket for example. But those go for around $2500 or so.
Or buy some ported 243s for around $1000-1200

Take them off and send them to a shop for better "port" job. Is not worth it IMO
Unless your gonna do the job. You don't spend that much money

The best heads are gonna depend on what your application is, If you are gonna put a big cam, high stall, and such then You would benefit from a set of AFRs or Trickflows, but if you are running a moderate cam, you will be fine with a good set of PRC heads and will make good power, and save some cash,, Hope this helps. If you take yours off to have them ported, FIRST take them to someone well known for LS engines, and compare the costs, You may be better off looking at some prc heads for 1200 and those will have some of the best flow numbers with new springs setup for a good price. Personally I am not a big fan of the dart heads, I would list AFR and trickflow at the top of the list.

Trickflow or AFR if money isn't a concern.

I sent my 243's to totalengineairflow . Asked for the stage 1 , and sent them the cam specs. They do a great job . Just compair the flow , prices and your cam.
