Best head and cam package
I am looking to put in new headers & head/cam on my 00 TA. I was wondering what everyone thought was a good head and cam package. I would say that I am looking for something more on the agressive side with nothing but horse power gains in mind. Thanks in advance.

I have SLP cold air induction, throttle body water bypass kit, Slp loudmouth exhaust, and just ordered diablo II programmer. I would say that I have a moderate budget. Its an A4. Also looking into getting an LS6 intake manifold.

id sell the diablo.... as it wont work for shit on an aggresive H/C.
(ask any good tuner)
and an LS6 would be a good idea for a tight budget.
call TSP, and ask about there MS3 and some good 11:1CR heads.....
allthough, not sure hoe those MS3;s do in an A4?
and you will really need a converter also. 3000-3500 maybe

for the converter I was thinking with going with a Yank 3600 converter and then putting in 3.73 gears. At what point do I need to think about putting in new rocker arms, pushrods etc...

stock rocker arms are great. puhsrods, springs, will need to be done with a cam swap.

I'd go with the Texas Speed torquer v2 and Texas Speeds PRC LS6 heads with their dual springs.

by nothing but horsepower gains in mind are you just looking for a pretty dyno chart or do you want this thing to move on the track. Dyno queen is MUCH different than a track car. You can hit some extremely high horsepower numbers on a cam only setup however than power may not be setup for anything useful.

I agree with juiced 100%. As far as the heads I would choose AFR. I have a set in my firehawk and a good mid-range cam and I have 388 HP and TQ at the wheels. When I was doing the dyno-tune I was expecting a little more. But since then I have come to be a lot happier. It's idle is not far from stock since I still carry the stock SLP cat-back. But the important part is how it pulls from 3000 - 6000. It carries 350 LB/FT of torque for around 3000 RPM. I really wouldn't get too caught up in the numbers unless that is what you are doing all of this for. I raced a pretty cool guy that had a LS1 T/A with the SLP 350 horse performance pack one day. He got a lot better launch than I did because of traction. But then came second gear, I was able to go WOT and before I hit third I was now a few car lengths ahead. When we talked afterwards he actually said "before I looked down to hit second you were back there" pointing half a car back "and when I looked up you were up there" now pointing half a car ahead. Of course if it didn't go that way then I should have had my keys taken from me.
