There is no best cam unless you state what your car is going to be doing. Most big cams will shine w/ gears since the power band is way up top.

MS4, Trex, megadeath cam, call a cam company and they will tell you straight up what gives you the peak hp.
The people who have broken the 500rwhp mark w/ heads and cam on stock ci did not use the biggest cam they could find.

get a custom cam.you can tailor a cam so you do not have to fly cut the piston.you also will need a good converter.

Too big for a stock LS1.
    Thanks.

We need more info. I NEVER recommend going for nothing but horsepower numbers. Those are easy to get but the car can not perform as wanted because the set-up isn't correct.
    Gears?
    Auto? If so, what stall?
    Tires?
    Street car? Or just track?
    Etc...

I was in your shoes a few months back. You will come to realize if you put the same cam in 2 different cars they will both perform differently depending on supporting mods. Call one of our sponsors and tell them what you want to accomplish. They'll help ya out. FWIW I've got a 01 TA "pretty much stock" headers, ported TB, LID, true duals, and ported oil pump. I put in the
TSP 228r and am very happy with it. I'm at about 398 hp to the wheels and about 378 TQ. Car is not a daily driver but in the summer sees it's good share of cruises. Nice low end TQ.....I didnt' want to lose that. Haven't taken it to the track yet so no 1/4 #'s for ya....but there's my .02

    Isn't this basically an MS4?

Just another donkey dick cam. Probably set-up cars LOVE them, but a street car tends to like less gear than that cam wants/needs.
Of course, all in opinion and what you want to put up with when driving the car.

Best advice - figure out exactly what you want from the car and build the engine/car to that. It takes a lot of research into selecting the right combo of parts to get the best performance out of them. If you plan on keeping the heads stock, that will make a difference. But if you plan on swapping heads when you do the cam, that will change the cam you may want to run. Almost everything you change on an engine will affect which parts you choose to use.
