    Best Block?

I'm going to build and LS1 from scratch, and I'm wondering what years the best blocks came in? I've read that 98 & 99 blocks don't have the oil passages cast into them. Anyways, what's my best starting block? Also, as for heads, would stock LS6 or the Patriot stage 2 heads be better? Thanks

99+ LS1 or LS6 if available, depends on your goals, LS6 heads would be a good bang for the buck especially with a small-medum sized cam, Patriots are good performing heads for what ever you want to throw at them

Id go with a block newer then 2000. Just because the oil ports are way for efficient-But either or will do just fine
