Call the cam manufacturer and trust the pros. Taking a forum poll is not the best way to make a major decision like a camshaft.

WEll you didn't make any recommendation...so you're no help at all..dont care what your job is!! Purpose of a forum is to hopefully get some consensus on choices such as cams..aftermarket exhausts etc...which is what this forum does very well.

What do you guys mean when you say a larger cam makes a car harder to drive in traffic? Is it just the sound? Or becuase it is easier to stall on takeoffs?

B/c w/ a big cam you usally can't pull out like a stock car. You need to give it more gas and even w/ a really good to you still need to keep your speed up some up. You can't just barley move. I have the g5x4 and it drives great but bumper to bumper traffic isn't to fun.

No need to get your feathers ruffled. All I was saying is that a decision as important as a cam should be better thought out; that is all I was saying.

    I agree........

As I stated pages ago I would call Cam Motion or other manufacture and give them ALL my exact specs and get a cam ground directly for my application.
That way your getting the most gain and correct specs for your car and application NOT some universal off the shelf grind.

    Lightbulb basic cam guide

I've been reasearching camshafts and which one will be best for my camaro and stumbled across a guide on the net that really helped alot in the understanding of all the numbers, grind, and what's streetable and not streetable. Here's the link it's http://www.ls1howto.comclick on the f-body cam and valve spring swap link to the right of the page and scroll down there is a guide on cams and a basic understanding on where to start at least... Hope this helps some of you guys with questions.

I wanted to get your guys' opinions on which cam I should get. I will be driving this car almost daily. I figure with a good tune the car will be alright for a DD. A few companies I could think of are...G5X3, TSP Magic Stick, Thunder Racing T-Rex, other Thunder Racing Cams.
None of the cams listed for a daily driver.

I would take the T-Rex myself. I am thinking about running that cam now. The dyno graph posted on their site for that cam looks really good. Alot of power right where you need it. If it will idle it can be used as a daily driver may not be as easy to drive but who cares. Its mean.

TRex is a great dyno cam.
Requires an aggressive set of gears and a high RPM launch to get the best out of it.

Not that this will happen to everybody, but I watch smaller cammed cars outrun larger cammed cars regularly. It isn't all about peak power or dyno numbers.
228/228 is a great driver that sounds mean AND will scream from damn near any RPM's.
