Did you upgrade the valve springs ? You should have good valve to piston clearance. Sounds like the valves hit the pistons for some reason.

    Explain the thread title please.

Length depends on a few things. Stock heads? Stock lifters? What has been changed?
Measure....twice. Adjustable pushrod length checkers are cheap.

Seriously dude WTF? Please explain your title. How can you put a cam into a car and not know what kinda rods/springs you need?

this should be a two step process

    1. call and see what the manufacturer recommends
    2. get a pushrod length checker and check

if the rods are bend..chances are they aren't the hardened ones..which sounds like you are running stock pushrods ?

as too why you kissed the valve ..well pushrod length will play a huge role...if the rods are a correct length..then more than likely your timing is off /not aligned correctly.
