the tpis article was bad ass. the fast 90/90 combo really does perform all the way throught the powerband. hopefully i could find one cheap somewhere.
    thanks again!
no problem at all. i grew up with the stuff. my dad is a gear head and it has been passed on to my brother and myself. i have been called out by my dad in July to race his big block bored/stroked '69 SS vert against my '00 SS. im trying to get the TSP 231/237 cam and FAST 90 combo on before then but taxes hit me hard this year and i owe $$$$ (yes four figures)...

i read alot, in fact i read more shit at work than i actually work. i like my job, so dont tell anyone...

I think for the G5X3 it would be either a 243-236 cam. big lift, so watch for possilbe flycutting of the pistons...

i really think im gonna get the Torquer 2 now that youve shed light on the issue. it seems right up my alley for what i want also. and like i said i want to be fast but i want to drive my car always. hell its just a z, its not a collector car like yours and other ppl's ss's are. in a couple years i want to get a ws6 just so i can say i have the best of both worlds and that one can stay under the cover.

it's all good. i bought my SS 100% stock with only 21k on the clock two years ago. i have done all the work to her and saved all of the stock parts, should i sell her (return to stock would bring me more money). she currently has 38k on the clock with the last install and tune being the heads in Jan '07. since then, maybe between 300-400 miles on her since. but damn is she a blast to drive!!!

more mods require more tuning i believe. whatevers gonna changet the air fuel ratio which is pretty much everything cool. just gotta suck it up and pay for the tune i suppose...

yes, if you ever upgrade intakes or swap cams, heads, exhaust the car will need to be returned so that it is calibrated and optimized for the best performance numbers that the engine can produce. usually that's why it s a good idea to install h/c, headers and intake all at once and save on multiple retunes, versus a retune after every mod done. however thats personal preference if you want to go that route because then you have a record of gains as you stepped up the mods along the way...

regardless, always get a base tune so you know what your starting point was...

i started out at 325/330 with only lid and catback. now 409/388...

You will be ok on that !

Not to mention yes those are the specs on Intake Duration, Exhaust Duration, Intake Lift Exhaust Lift, and LSA ! Those are not the grind specs is what I was talking about!

Plus notice on my cam the Intake, and exhaust is not a full true number they x'd the shit out of it.

most shops that specalize in LS1 tuning charge between 250-600 for the initial tune... then after that adjustments or for new combo's are per hour (between 75-125 hour depending on shop)

DYNO tune is the only way to go... no mail order tunes

i am completley aware of this... however personally i think still worth the extra few minutes just to know what your clearances are is worth it IMO... that is if you are swapping heads too... if cam only then just slide the bitch in

Also in hind-sight, the moser 12 bolt is a strong rear-end but it robs a great deal of power and I don't like the fact that it does not have a bolt through configuration to secure the torque arm. If I did it all over again I would probably try another route on the rear-end. From what I have read you can get a good strong set-up from strange and they use lighter parts I believe.

MOSER's eat themselves - their assembly blows

    A4 strange 12 bolt
    M6 strange 9 inch or S60

    Lid
    Fast 90/90 Combo
    LT's
    True Duals/X-pipe
    Torquer v2 cam: 232/234 .595/.598 @112
    Ls6 Oil Pump
    Ls2 Timing Chain
Heads (ported which you have covered)
    Tune
    4.10 gears
    Pan Hard Rod
    LCA's (Lower Control Arms)
Drag Radials (brand of your choice)
    Aftermarket Shifter

im sure there's more but thats a good start and a very good amount of $$$$...

All that and a new rearend eventually. Also I recommend some SFCs(subframe connectors), and wieght reduction to get you closer to your trap speed goals.
