Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
almost ready to do HCI...
So I'm in the process of porting my LS6 heads, got my LS6 intake and I have a cam (Texas Speed Torquer v2, 112*) picked out and ready to order.
So what else do I need? I need head gaskets, coolant pipe, injectors/rail/TB/all gaskets came with the intake ... anything else? I want to make sure I have everything when I drop the engine so I can hopefully get it done in a week of 3.5 hour classes.

Question; do the valve covers bolt up or should I get new ones? I checked them out last night, side by side and if they are different, it must be subtle but I just want to be 200% positive (plus if I need to get new ones, I can paint them red!)

98 valve covers are perimeter bolt valve covers and LS6 heads are center bolt style. So if you're switching from stock 98 heads to 243 heads you'll need valve covers.

should i upgrade the rocker arms or keep stockers?
i'm getting new lifters, pushrods and timing chain with the cam ... anything else?
should i consider timing gears if i'm doing 232/234 .595/.598 w/ 112*

lots of people, myself included, do cam swaps and keep the stock rockers. In hind sight though I wish I would've swapped them when I was doing mine. I read an article that talked about side load on high lift cams using the stockers and over time it will wear the valve guides out.
I wouldn't worry about a gear set but I would swap the chain for an LS2 chain. I would also swap the oil pump out since you're going to be right there for a ported ls6 pump and I would put an underdrive pulley on since the stocker has to come off anyhow.

Head bolts
Grind the fins where the current coolant lines are saves you $50 and keeps the better cooling setup-took me 20 min to do. Did not see pushrods on your list.

I did list pushrods. And I know the grinding thing you're talking about.

Lifters if your engine has a decent amount of mileage on it.......

With the lift numbers on the V2, I wouldnt worry about upgrading the rockers. What valve guides are you using? Bronze would want a different rocker setup. Stockers are the lightest rocker out still and should do fine with your setup IMO.

WELL now there's a large change I won't have a lift, any tricks or anything while the engine is in the car to not make my life hell while I do it? I start on Monday at 6 and can't wait
I've ordered:
Torquer V2 cam
All sorts of gaskets for the heads, water pump, front seal, ect
Valve covers
LS6 ported oil pump
LS2 timing chain
Hardened pushrods
... Lifters, what should determine my selection of these? I'm really not sure myself.
Am I skipping anything? I hope to have it done in two weeks after I start it since I'll only work on it 3.5 hours a night
