    Aftermarket heads vs 243 heads

Question i've got is whether to spend the money on porting my 243 heads or go aftermarket, full bolt ons custom grind cam 600plus lift 4000 stall any suggestions?

porting your heads would prolly be the best bang for buck i know you can buy a set of 243's ported for 1300 but i know youll see atleast a 20hp gain thru the rpms with a set of AFRs or TFs versus ported 243's but then again youll spend 2400-2700 on those heads

Do you have any ideas on where and how much it might cost to do the head work?

idk prolly atleast 600 bucks as far as where look around for local performance shops they might be able to point you in the direction of a good machine shop to do the porting i know of some good ones in texas but ive never even been to Alabama is it?

after the heads you should be around 400 your gonna lose some bc of the stall but you ETs will be better
    501rwhp, 538 rwtq thru an A4 and a 4000 stall (n/a) not to shabby i say

i dont know if the air levels are the same in abilene texas but if the same as north alabama that should be easy to do. Im using the 4l60e tranny with the circle d 4000 stall 4.10 gears good luck when you go to the track.

1800', thats on a really really good day... the first month or so that the track is open it ranges from 1500-2700'. All throughout summer it likes to hang around 3000-3800' range. Then around the middle of fall or so, it starts to dip back down in the 2000' range. But you should definately be in the low 7s, 6s are possible but usually not likely here all motor unless you have put the car on a diet...

To the OP: With a nice cam and full bolt ons (if that includes an intake like a FAST) you should be right around the 400 mark without head work, but every little bit helps. H/C/I should easily see 400. I've seen cam only stalled autos hit anywhere between 350-388 RWHP, with no real supporting mods except Longtubes.

ahhh gotcha...yeah 243's flow nice i would of gotten mine cnc'd but didnt have the cash so im gonna port them in class here in about a month or so....so i say just port and polish these no need to spend all that extra money unless you really need or want that extra 20hp if you get that, but thats my opinion. but those are some pretty intense times lol then you can put the money you save into suspension parts

Owning a 9 sec ricer is like coming out of the closest: at first you'll surprise everyone, but in the end you're still gay

yeah i'm thinking just leave the heads stock because you proably cant notice the extra 20 hp.And for suspension i think i have enough ,qa's on all four corners lower control arms panhard bar trans brace bigger sway bars. I guess i could take the money for the headsand get a 150 shot NOS. dreaminnnnnn lol.
