    I bought a TFS Stage 3 Camshaft 238/242dur .595/.595lift 112LSA.

Is this cam going to be streetable for me? I won't drive it alot, obviously.

I have a factory 3.42 gear with an T-56 Tranny. The guy that is going to dyno-tune it is very good!

What is your thoughts on my set-up? is it to much cam for stock head and stock bottom end?
Streetable is all opinion. A great tune is a must here. This cam will love high rpm's. It will make good power up there also. A steeper gear is without question. It needs it. Add the gear swap into your cam swap, you will regret it if you dont.

Is this a 'streetable' weekend car? If so, then sure.... I assume you have done some research on what cam this is, and the basics of it. Its a big cam

A FAST 90/90 will help it for sure. Assuming aftermarket heads are not an option, it will still perform. But it will really like ported heads/ but not a necessity.

IMO, this cam will perform great up top(higher rpm's) and have a pretty low rpm tq. Thats where the steep 4.11 or maybe even 4.30 gear will come into play. The gears really need to be thought about here IMO. Have fun, post some videos and some dino sheets when done and add them to ls1.com.

I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm planning on doing a rear end and TFS heads after Christmas. I hate to waiste the money on the gear. It's going to be finished in the morning other than the tune. The tune will be Monday, first a street tune then on the dyno for a dozen or so pulls. Hoping for 410+ at the wheels, but I'll be happy even if it only puts down 370.

trust me, with that cam a set of gears will be worth the money and make you happy.....they will let you get up in the rpms a lot quicker

Is it that unknown that we all need gears with a big(ger) cam? The basics are there, I half tempted to go 4.30''s is my next buy.

I'd love to drop a set of 4.11s or 4.30s in the goat even with my small cam, but I do a lot of highway driving and its an a4

Im ordering a 9" Monday. I have thought about 4.30's. If I had went with the larger of the two cams I was looking at (236/240) comapred to my 230/236... I would go with 4.30's. 4.11 will get the job done, 4.30's would be fun though.

12 bolt not good enough for ya anymore? I'm debataing between 4.11 and 4.30 cause I'd have to run a bigger tire for the 4.30

12 bolt ring gear bolts backed out from a shitty build years ago. Now, I just want to be done with and get a 9". The housing and axles are in perfect condition. I will sell the housing and axles for cheap and put that towards the 9". All that would be needed for someone is a posi and ring/pinion gear. 4.30's might be a tad too much for a street car. Depending on how much highway driving.

I have heard Bluecat is a very smart man. Glad to hear you hooked up with him, Heard many, many good things about his tuning. I bet you got a good price also.

Yeah, he did 3 street tune adjustments and 4 dyno-tunes with adjustments to get all he could out of it. He really knows what he is doing! I doubt many cars with that cam and stock gears drive as good as mine.

I guess that's pretty decent power without doing heads. If corrected for air and humidity it put down 402 hp to the wheels. Thats around 472hp at the crank. Made maximum horse power at 6200 rpm and stayed within a couple horse power up to 6750rpm. It sounds awesome and drives awesome!!!

that's pretty good numbers, I'm hoping to be close with my smaller cam, but have my heads done. if you work your heads you could probably get a bunch more out of your setup
