    98 Ls1 SS questions

I gotta a buddy of mine with an LS1 SS 98 Camaro. Mechanic just told him that he found oil in the radiator. Does he have a blown head gasket? Because it sure sounds like it to me. When I went to look at his car he had a radaitor hose that was busted leaking fluid. And his car kept shutting off on him and he was pegging the temp gage to the redzone area.

About how much do headgaskets run for LS1's. Im use to LT1's I dont think it cant be that much harder to work on.

might have warped the heads getting it that hot. Surprised he didn't do more damage than that. Check out thunder racing in the sponsors area. They list head gaskets....I just forget what they cost.

It's possible it could have a cracked head. Either way after you get the head off I would take it to a machine shop and have it checked for cracks just to be safe especially since it has overheated.

Yeah I just talked to a GM guy right now and he said the same thing. About a possible head cracked. Either way I think its safe to say that the heads have to come off.

Yeah, cause gaskets won't do crap for ya if the heads are warped/cracked
